Jesus Is The Lord...     1 Cor 12:3

The Law of Moses & Grace

What do you see in most Christian churches today?

That is, what type of practices or rituals they perform that is fairly similiar to other churches. Whether they be Non-Denominational, Pentecostal, Baptist, etc...

Some examples would be: Communion (the Lord's Supper), services on Sunday, a worship / praise team (church band), Altar Call (call for prayer), and so on...

Now most churches read the New Testament portion of the Bible more than the Old Testament. Some churches even call themselves New Testament Belivers.

(Note: Most churches use the NIV translation New Internatioal Version. Be cautious of what Bible is being read many translations such as the NIV have wrong translations some are complete blasphemy to the true words of God)

Keep in mind there is nothing wrong or unbiblical with calling yourself a New Testament christian. However, Most if not all NT Belivers don't give much if any honor or even respect Old Testament teachings.

The reason for this is because a majority of churches say that the Old Testament Law (law of Moses) is no longer in effect since Jesus died on the cross therby fullfilling all that is neccesary for salvation of sins.

Well, whether you believe it or not that is NOT TRUE. YES, Jesus died for our Sins YES, he was the final blood sacrifice needed for us forever.

YES, He fullfilled the Prophecies and paid the perfect sacrifice for our Sins thereby removing the BLOOD Rituals. but.... NO, He didn't eliminate the LAW of MOSES and replace it with the Law of GRACE.

Old Testament Laws still stand today just as they did when God gave them through Moses. Many argue that the Old Testament Law and New Testament Grace couldn't coexist, that they conficlt with one another if followed at the same time. This is not true they work perfectly together.

Let me list some examples of Laws of Moses:

Thou shat not kill

Thou shalt not steal

Thou shalt not commit adultery...

Simply put the entire TEN COMMANDMENTS are Old Testament Laws So should we not follow these?

According to Most New Testament Pastors these as well as others are no longer required since we are covered by the Blood of Jesus therby under the New Covenant. But most will not want to even discuss this subject since it can get confusing quickly if you belive the Law of Moses is no longer required.

Here are some other laws of Moses: (Book of Leviticus)

NO Pork  NO Shrimp  NO Lobster  NO Crawfish…

Many people would not like these rules at all. These and many others have become very popular in many parts of the country. Let me make one thing clear. If you have never kept these laws and continue to not keep them this alone does not mean you will lose your salvation and go to Hell.

Your Salvation in by Faith in Jesus NOT your earthly lifestyle, good deeds, spiritual laws kept, etc…

Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

However, let me give an example…

Lets say you’re a parent and your kid is now old enough to drive and is now going out to spend time with friends. Now you told your kid long ago that when he gets his license he should be home by 10 P.M. but he has long forgotten this rule or thought you were kidding. The first night he comes home at 11:30 P.M. You remind the him that the curfue is 10 PM. He explains he did not know or realize you had this rule. He apologizes and the next time he goes out you assume at 10 PM He will be home, but he breaks the rule again. You warn him not to do this again and you remind him of the curfue. However on the third night he breaks curfue again. What would you Do? Would you throw him out on the streets? No, you would take the priviliage of using the car away from him until he learns priviliages also come with responsibilities.

I believe it is the same with our Father God. Just because we are not perfect on the earth dosen’t mean He will kick you out of heaven. But I do believe that if we continue to break His rules over and over without a concern or respect for His ways he will begin to take priviliages away. What kind of priviliages?

Well, maybe the ability to hear His Voice and be led by the Spirit in the full potential it can be, Power of the Spirit, Healings, Heavenly wisdom, etc…

Now I know what many would argue on this. There are many people out there that have had prayers answered and didn’t keep these Old Testament Laws, how were their prayers answered?

The answer is simple – GRACE. That is what grace is all about, receiving something from God that you don’t deserve. Things like Salvation, healing, answered prayer… I know that I personally have received things from God that I did NOT deserve. And I was Not Keeping His laws at the time. So yes it can happen. God is so Good, He gives gifts to us. Now just because He does do this does that give us the right to expect God to give blessings without us even trying to keep the ways of His Kingdom? God gave the laws to Moses for several reasons. One of which was to show us where we need improvement on our daily lives to meet His Standards. Of course none of us will ever keep all of them perfectly, I am still making mistakes and having to force myself to not do things my way but His. There are several scriptures that show that the Old testaments ways are still active today. I will have these scriptures on the page here but think about this…

Here are some important questions you need to ask...

Question #1.

Did Jesus keep these laws? Yes he did. Every one of them. Not only are there several stories throughout the Gospels that tell of Him keeping the laws such as: Sabbath, Passover, Feast of Tabernacles, etc… It is considered a sin to break these laws of Moses and Jesus was without sin. Now at this point most people would stop and say “But Jesus didn’t yet die on the cross so the law was still active at that time. Only after he died on the cross was the Law changed.” This brings me to...

Question # 2.

Are you greater than Jesus? NO you’re not. Anyone would agree to that. Of course Jesus is greater than us. So why would it be okay for us to not keep the laws of God such as sabbath, dietary, etc… Why would God send His Son to the world and require Him to keep the laws perfectly but not require you to do the same? Why would we have more freedoms than the Son of God?

Question #3.

(you might want to ask your pastor this one) Do you believe we should Tithe to the church? Most people would say of course the Bible says many times over and over that you are to tithe, give offerings, give the first fruits of your increase ($money$). But did you know that Tithing is a LAW OF MOSES under the OLD COVENANT.

So if the Old laws are no longer required why do churches still keep receiving your money?

The Answer is twofold.

Some churches do it by habit and don’t know anything about the Old Testament Laws.

#2 (GREED)

Some preachers / churches only want to preach and follow things of the Bible that benefit them and are easy to follow. It takes a commitment to keep the Laws of Moses. I will tell you very plainly IT IS NOT EASY TO KEEP THE LAWS. But it is well worth it. Since I have been keeping the Laws to the best of my ability, I have noticed a deeper peace with God, His Favor, Blessings.
